She'arim believes that education is a continuing process. To this end we have placed several prayers that we think may be useful.

Tefilla of the SheLah Hakadosh

This special prayer was composed by the SheLah Hakadosh to express the prayers of parents on behalf of their children. The SheLah Hakadosh said the optimal time for parents to recite this prayer is Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan for that is the month when G-d gave us the Torah, and when the Jewish people began to be called His Children however it may be recited anytime. On that day, (the SheLah Hakadosh) writes, fathers and mothers should give charity to the poor and repent. They should even fast, if they are able to.

Tehillim for Am Yisrael

We at She’arim have been reciting the 83rd chapter of Tehillim for many years. Ever since the Intifada started, we have adopted the recommendation of the rabbonim and begin each day with these Perakim of Tehillim- 20, 83, 121, 130 and 142. We know that all our difficulties in Israel, as unjust as they may be, are real threats, and our most valuable efforts to assure security in Israel is to Daven to our Father in Heaven.

A prayer for Rain

Israel is dependent on rainfall. The connection to Our Creator and the land is direct and clear. During times of shortage of rain it is imperative that we recognize and turn to G-d and ask for the blessing of rain. The following prayer is inserted during the  Shemona Esre in the 16th (Sama Kolanu) blessing during the winter months of a year that does not have a sufficient amount of rain.

The year 5771- 2010/2011 has been declared as year that the blessing should be said. G-d willing we should be blessed with rain and can at that time stop saying the prayer. As of Pesech we no longer add this prayer.
