All She'arim students are obligated to have a cell phone through the IsraelPhones company. This is due to security reasons. Please notice prices for She'arim students are lower than the prices quoted on the Israelphone web-site.

Land based phones are provided in most of the dormitory apartments for incoming calls.

Cell phones rate are relatively expensive in Israel. Incoming calls are "free" while outgoing calls are charged according to the plan selected. You will not be charged for the calls made to you from Israel or from abroad. The caller will pay a higher rate for calling to a cell phone then to a land line.

The rates provided by IsraelPhones are competitive with those of other companies that service students studying in Israel. She'arim has negotiated a plan the provides the students a full credit for the monthly charge, eliminating the overhead cost to the student. The 500 free IsraelPhone to IsraelPhone minute allow students to talk to other students or the She'arim office without an additional cost. In addition Israephones has reduced the per minute cost for some call groups.

Phones can be picked up in New York or delivered to She'arim in Israel. Monthly cost will vary according to usage.  We recommend that student evaluate the various options and plans. We suggest the pay as you go option, at least to start with. The "package' rates are only useful if you call the exact or slightly below the package amount. Calls above the package are charged at a much higher rate. Students from countries other then North America should not select the package plan.

We recommend that you use this company since we send emergency notifications to student using this network. (In case of an emergency, we will of course try to contact all students regardless of what company they are using.)

The student computer room is available for students that wish to use  "Skype"  or an internet chat program. Students are asked to be considerate of other students in their usage of these programs.
